Delicious GF Sweet Potato Bread, I had some leftover sweet potatoes from making Thanksgiving pies. As my last article talked about what sweet potato is.
I made the bread, here are some pictures..
It’s very moist, I baked it in a convection oven, next time I’ll increase the temperature as the recipe called for a low temp of 325 F.
- 2 cups flour ( I used Gluten free flour)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1 teaspoon each of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice
- 3/4 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar (I reduced it to 1 cup)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups of cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
Bake at 325F 65-75 minutes. As I mention above it will depend upon on how hot your oven gets.. I would recommend increasing the temp to 350 F.
Of course Sweet Potato pie is really made just like a pumpkin pie only you switch out the pumpkin for the sweet potatoes. I love cinnamon and pumpkin spices I always add extra. You could add vanilla flavoring if you like. Not me I added Cannella, it’s a Italian Cordial, made with cinnamon.

I met Joe about 3 years ago, we swapped pie for Cannella.. He wanted to create an apple pie with it. Like I said to him, it really doesn’t make it unique. I did however make one with apple and one with a new recipe I created for him. “Cannella Orange” – it’s made with mandarin orange peels, agave, pecans to give it a bit of crunch and Cannella. Taste tests with his friends were 50/50.
By adding it to the sweet potatoes, it gave them a much sweeter and full cinnamon taste.
