Support AB1325!, which means people and make and sell homemade food is a great way for entrepreneurs with big dreams but little capital to start their own small business.

Customers love buying homemade, local foods from their community.
Under the Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations (MEHKOs) program, Californians in certain counties can prepare, serve, and sell food from their own homes provided they meet certain requirements and operate within certain limits. The MEHKOs program has been incredibly successful and provides important economic opportunities to individuals from vulnerable communities. MEHKOs also allow Californians from all walks of life to share their vibrant and cultural food traditions with their customers.
Assembly members Marie Waldron (R) and Eduardo Garcia (D) have introduced AB 1325, a bipartisan bill to expand California’s MEHKO program. The bill, sponsored by the Institute for Justice and the COOK Alliance, would allow licensed home cooks in opted-in counties to sell up to 90 meals per week and earn up to $100,000 annually, doubling the current monetary limit.
